This project inaugurated The Horticultural Society of New York’s Project Space program for emerging New York artists. Over a period of six months from 2010 to 2011, I collected and documented one twig each day. For the days I forgot or for the twigs I lost, I fabricated trompe l’oeil surrogates out of air dry clay and gouache. Nearly impossible to distinguish from one another, the twigs collectively form a calendar of perceived, experienced, and constructed reality, with each twig marking a passing day.
